A boy's story

Hello friends, today I will tell you a story about a boy.

There once lived a boy in a village who used to walk to school every day. He deeply wished to buy a bicycle for going to school. However, his father’s financial situation was not good enough to buy him a bicycle.

One day, while on his way to school, he saw an old man sitting under a tree. The man looked very tired. When the boy approached him, he asked, “Baba, what happened?” The man replied that he was very thirsty and needed water. The boy took out his water bottle from his bag and gave it to the old man. The old man drank the water, but there was no happiness or joy on his face. The boy then asked, “Baba, are you hungry?” The old man said, “Yes, I am very hungry.”

So, the boy took out his tiffin box from his bag and gave it to the old man, saying, “Baba ji, please eat this food”. He added, “My mother made this for me to eat at school, but you can have it”. The old man ate the food, and joy and cheer appeared on his face. Happy with this, the old man gave the boy a box of coins, which is called a piggy bank. The old man said, “Son, I am very pleased with your nature. Keep this box”. He also told him that there was no need to put coins in it. He explained, “Whenever you do a good deed, a coin will automatically be added to it. But remember one thing, whenever you say something bad or do something bad, two coins will be removed from it”.

When the boy took the box in his hand, he felt that there was already a coin in it. So, he asked the old man, “Baba, there’s a coin in it!” The old man replied, “Yes, you just did a good deed by giving me food and water, that’s why a coin has been added to it”. The boy was very happy and went home with the box.

A few days later, as he was going towards school, he saw many women drawing water near a well, but one old woman among them was unable to pull the water. The boy said, “Amma, come this way. We will draw water for you”. And the boy helped the old woman and drew out the water. The old woman was very happy and left from there after giving him many blessings. When he came home and checked, another coin had been added to the box, which made the boy very happy. He thought, if I keep doing good deeds like this, I will collect enough money to buy a bicycle.

However, whenever he fought with his friends or spoke rudely to his parents, two coins would be removed from the box. With the hope of getting a bicycle, the boy started doing good deeds and developing good habits. As the boy grew older, he became so good and started doing so many good deeds that it became his nature. He became a very beloved person among the villagers. All the villagers liked him because he always helped everyone and always did good deeds. He never spoke ill or harsh words to anyone. He became such a good person that he never needed to break his box and take out money to buy anything.

The moral of this story is that your true wealth is your good nature, not your financial assets.
