A dog leaves his famine-stricken village for a city where he steals food from an open house but is then brutally attacked by local dogs. He returns to his village, concluding it is better to be hungry but safe at home than to risk one’s life for abundance elsewhere.
Your Own People Are Your Enemies
Hello friends, today I’ll tell you a story about a dog.
In a village, there lived a dog. The village was suffering from a famine. There was no food available anywhere. The villagers themselves were barely getting enough to eat, so they were unable to feed their pets. The dog was starving, but he couldn’t find anything to eat. He thought to himself, “If I stay here, I’ll die of hunger.” With this thought, the dog left the village. After walking for a long time, he reached a distant city and saw that there was plenty of food available. He noticed that food was everywhere, and people even left their doors open. So, the dog snuck into a house and stole some food to eat. After finishing his meal, he realized that no one had even noticed he had entered the house and eaten the food. Quietly, he slipped back outside.
When he got out, the street dogs saw him and immediately pounced on him. All the dogs attacked him and began to bite him. Because his stomach was completely full, the dog couldn’t run away. After a great struggle, he managed to save himself and escaped, hiding somewhere else. He then thought to himself, “If I stay here, these dogs will bite me to death. It’s better that I go back to my village. I’ll be hungry, but at least I’ll be alive.” And so, he returned to his village.
When he arrived back, his fellow dogs asked him, “Brother, you went to a foreign place. How was your trip?”
The dog said, “The village I came from was very big. There were large buildings there, and the women left food out in the open. They didn’t even close their doors and windows. I was able to go inside and eat, but the local dogs there didn’t spare me. They attacked me and left me in this condition.”
The moral of this story is that while people from outside may forgive us if we do something wrong, the people closest to us may never forgive us. I hope you liked this story. We’ll meet again with another story. Namaste.
